Guys, let it drop! No offense was meant, even if it did seem that way. It was a misunderstanding.
Don't we have better things to discuss?

Altec Best:
Your inbox was full when I checked!
This may belong in a new post but this is an answer to how I would modify a 511 to an E:
Hi John, Sorry about not checking my messages...not quite settled yet....getting close though! I got my pair from eBay and I paid what every one thinks as too much! I think it was a little more than 600 dollars for the pair. But whatever, it allowed me to listen to GPA's alnico 288H drivers which are insanely good and finish the playback system.
As far as dimensions are concerned, I can certainly help.
I assume you have the expertise to weld and shape aluminum?
1)My first suggestion is to build the plates that mount a 288 driver.
2)remove the hanging rings from the 511b and clean up the surface
3)measure the line to slice the 511b horn (this is where I could help!)
4)slice the 511b
5)weld the mounting plate
6) smooth perfectly the throat from the plate going into the horn on the inside.
...for high end response you need to do the best job you can in this step
7) apply 288 and enjoy!
8) curve open cell foam on the bell lips of the 511e and hear the improvement!
I started to tackle this and never came up with a "finished" idea per se.
Best regards, Steve
